School contributions

Year 7 Orientation, Transition and Induction Initiatives
As well as our Orientation Day, Macarthur Girls High School welcomes incoming Year 7 students to join us for a Transition Day, held in early Term 4. This extra day provides students with a valuable opportunity to meet their future peers and teachers twice before starting high school, helping them feel more comfortable and familiar with their new surroundings. During Transition Day, students will participate in diagnostic assessments in literacy and numeracy. The results help the school to tailor and prepare individualised learning support prior to the student’s first day at school. Alongside academic assessments, students enjoy engaging and interactive experiences, including a riddle-filled school tour, peer support activities, and team building games.
The school also implements an Induction program over the first few days of school. In this program, students work together in developing their understanding of school expectations and procedures. Topics covered include:
- Starting High School
- All about me and making new friends
- School Administration procedures and tackling the timetable
- Technology - setting up our devices and organising electronic files
- Our school’s PRIDE Values
- Safety at school - emergency procedures
- Peer Support
